That word “submit” makes people crazy! They hear it and immediately become defensive. A few days ago I saw an article on FaceBook for “Words to Stop Using Immediately” and the word on the cover (with a bomb next to it) was “submit”.

This morning I “submitted” a paper to my work for their approval or disapproval; I was allowing them the right to judge my paperwork.

This is actually a pretty accurate word-picture of the greek word for submit, ὑποτάσσω (hupotassó) which means to place under.

This word is found in the book of James 4:7

Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

The idea of submitting to God is simple; take your day, your schedule, your hopes, your goals and submit them, in the same manner I submitted my paperwork to my job, for His approval or disapproval.

How would this affect your day?

How would His approval or disapproval affect you personally?

What kind of nonsense would you keep yourself from dealing with?

Suddenly, submitting sounds like a pretty good plan, doesn’t it?
